No fewer than 15 passengers returning from a journey to
their hometown, Dan-Wawaru village en-route Takakume village drowned
last Thursday night as the vehicle they were in plunged into River Rima
in Goronyo Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
According to eyewitness account, the vehicle conveying 17 persons suddenly lost control and plunged into the river, and only two people survived.
They were said to have attended a religious ceremony and the driver is assumed to have fallen asleep which may resulted in the ill-fated incident.
The remains of the deceased have been evacuated by the the police attached to the Goronyo police division.
