Information Communication Technology
experts from selected universities are undergoing a two-week training to
tackle the nation’s socio-economic challenges.
The
training, organised by an ICT company, Intel Incorporation, started at
the Federal University of Technology, Akure, on Monday.
According
to the Chairman, Committee on Intel Galileo Board Training Workshop,
Dr. Kayode Alese, the training will give the participants the requisite
capacity to operate the new Galileo Board technology system.
The
training, he added, would enhance the participants’ capacity in using
ICT facilities to tackle national challenges, such as cybercrime,
poverty, security, and issues related to health and Agriculture.
Declaring
the workshop open, the FUTA Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Adebiyi Daramola,
commended Intel’s presentation of 40 Galileo Board to the university as
well as its choice for the training.
Daramola said the collaboration was the latest in a series of local and foreign partnership for FUTA.
According
to him, an existing collaboration between the university and the
Florida Agricultural and Mechanical University has contributed to
boosting the rating of the institution.
