The governor condemned the terror act urging Niger residents to preserve calm and to keep vigil, reporting the suspicious moves.
Aliyu added that security had been enhanced in all the schools to prevent the tragedies in the future. He added that those injured in the incident were being treated and would soon be discharged.
The governor’s words about the death toll contradict the previously provided comments by the witnesses. One of them identified as Mary Okafor insisted that the blast killed 10. And a BBC journalist said on Twitter with reference to the college lecturer that at least 4 were killed and “but he has been told many more people died”.
Meanwhile Sahara Reporters reports with reference to a student at the school, Musa Ibrahim that two female students sustained critical injuries as the bomb detonated.
Sahara Reporters provides that the injured 3rd year student identified as Fasilat Adegoke died an hour ago, which was allegedly revealed by the sources from the school.
A security source disclosed that the attacker meant to detonate the explosives at the lecture auditorium, but the bomb went off near a photocopying cabin.
The second bomber is believed to have been arrested and put under intensive watch.
